  1. Super Mario Odyssey (One D, Two Ss)

How do you like to catch your moons. I personally feel like they don't count unless I long jump into them.
  2. Super Mario Odyssey (One D, Two Ss)

The best part for me so far is the cut scene when mario possesses his first thing. Mario is totally having a Being John Malkovich experience. I fully expect to be spit out off the jersey turnpike any minute now. Keep it weird Nintendo.
  3. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I bought Farcry Primal on sale some time this summer and finally installed and booted it. Played it for about 3 hours and promptly quit it, probably for good. I can see where it might pick up once you can craft and store more items but it's a game where I can see where it's going and I just can't bring myself to care. I've been pampered by great games in the last few years and and I can't bring myself to stick with the middling ones. I hope that Mario Odyssey gets it's hooks in me. EDIT: Aaaaah! I forgot how horrifying Garfield's original design was until seeing Bjorn's avatar. What a F-ing strange humunculus he was.
  4. Magical Realism & Weird Fiction thread

Jorge Luis Borges often times gets lumped into this genre, or at least his later works. I recommend his collected short fictions to anybody. They can loosely relate to Twin Peaks in the sense that Lynch's last two films appear to draw inspiration from the ideas presented in many of his stories in the sense of the absolute rejection of verisimilitude. If you buy the collected fictions I recommend skipping the first chapter. They aren't bad stories just bucolics about gauchos. The stories I recommend are the stories written afterwards and until his death.
  5. New people: Read this, say hi.

I've been listening to Idle Thumb's various podcasts for for a little over a year. I'm not really active on any video game boards since none of them really suit my interests. I'm hoping to feel at home in this community.

Yeah, I completely agree. Knowing nothing made DaS one of the best gaming experience of last gen for me. I got so lost while being scared of every corner with no guides or faqs to tempt me. I didn't even know that you could cut off the tails of bosses until my third run. I'm hoping for a similar experience this time through as well. Hopefully I haven't learned too much about how the team at From thinks from their last three games to kind of recognize everything already. Perhaps they'll have some more surprises up their sleeves.

Bloodborne is 6 days away. I'm champing at the bit. Demon's Souls reinvigorated my love of games and was the only reason at the time that I didn't regret buying a ps3 since The Last Guardian never came.
