  1. I think I prefer podcasts that are just the same people each time but given how much else every individual person seems to have going on (I've assumed that Sean's regular absences are a result of being hard at work writing Firewatch, Chris has a jet-setting lifestyle flying all over the damn place, Danielle has all sorts of Polygon stuff in addition to working on a game of her own, Jake's always one week away from some major utility collapsing on him and Nick Breckon is Nick Breckon) it's a very reasonable approach.

I assumed that the addition of Danielle as a regular was in part because you guys were too busy with Firewatch to be up on video games like you used to, and in that role (among many many others) she's been a great addition. If making Spaff a sixth thumb is a step further in that direction I'd be cool with that. At this point I still don't really know his voice really well, but I imagine the more he's on the more prominent it'll become.

    He just needs a nickname.

    yes.

  2. -Monsterbag: a Vita game that is free if you have PS+ where the game starts as the whimsy adventures of girls and her monster backpack who tries to catch up with her when she leaves for the bus... and then the game turns dark FAST!

I'd call it a weird stealth puzzle game? The Monsterbad can only jump from person to person's back and if they are angry and looking your way, they will attack and kill you, sometimes you have to time it right, sometimes you have to use the environment and solve a puzzle to advance. It had some frustrating moments, but I really enjoyed the game!

I gave up on it. The art style is nice but I can't see anything really worth playing throught the whole thing for.

  3. As someone who hadn't seen Twin Peaks before Idle Thumbs began doing the Rewatch podcast, I have been finding the podcast a useful resource to echo my thoughts on the episodes and provide details which pasted me by on my viewing.

The Mystery, Sci-Fi, Thriller television show "The X Files" is a show held in similar regard but a podcast like the one Sean joked about on the Idle Thumbs podcast is unlikely for the large amount of episodes of the show and just the business they already have.

But what if we used this thread to discuss the show, one episode every week as long as we can?

    Please comment your thoughts.

  4. In steam there is an option to set catergories for the games in your library.

Do you use this and if so how do you organize your collection?

    By genre? By completion?

    This is mine.

    ∞ = Neverending

    ✓ = Completed

    ✗ = Incomplete

    -  = Completing

O = Open World (Which I want to keep playing like AC, Skyrim or Just Cause)

  5. With the Twin Peaks Rewatch podcast being launched recently by Chris and Jake, coincidently Danielle and Sean have started rewatching The X Files. With the diminuendo of the Dota Today Podcast episode releases Sean hasn't has "the podcast where he feels most comfortable". But if Danielle and Sean started an X Files rewatch he would be super comfortable. I would be really interested in Danielle and Seans thoughts on The X Files and believe other readers would too.

  6. I, evidently, love listening to podcasts and find them an excellent form of entertainment for their convenience. I listen to podcast when walking, exercising etc but also find that playing particular video games while listening to podcasts can be enjoyable. Spelunky, Just Cause 2 and FTL are my go tos currently which is kind of a shame because of Spelunky and FTL's excellent soundtracks but their minimal narrative and dialouge allow for a focused listening experiances without detracting from my extreme gamer level. Do you do this? (I know Chris has while playing Zumas Revenge) Do you have any suggestions of games to play while pods are being cast?

  7. i can empasise with this. a few years back, maybe i was just naive, but it seemed to me like ubisoft were one of the more creative AAA studios. Maybe they still are, I mean their Rayman/Child of Light/Valiant Hearts teams have been quite an obvious push for Ubisoft trying to be more than money grabbing monopoly men to some degree but their constant format of upgrade systems, , unlocking towers, collectibles everywhere, quest systems and the story tropes you spoke of have all been rather prevalent in Assasins Creed, Far Cry, Watchdogs. (Regardless some of my favourite games still come under this format)
