  1. Ooh, I need to get started on that then. I'd love to start the third season (there's going to be one hopefully?) all caught up.

The seasons (at least so far) have been independent of each other, with different characters, settings, and game rules. I'm not sure what their plans are for season 3, but I don't think it will be a direct continuation of season 2. I could be wrong...I'm still listening to the last episode. It's super long.

  2. The second season of Friends at the Table ended today (or was it yesterday). I listened to most of the last episode while on a bike ride today. It was a weird semi-public way to feel both really entertained and increasingly sad.

  3. I screwed it up.

I had such a decent plan. I started in the safe house and worked my way through the apartments until I got to the one with a key to the church and the church volunteer outfit. I picked up an agency drop with a syringe so I could take him out quietly. I was planning on getting in, getting a priest outfit, and then improvising from there. I walked up to the church and got stopped at the gate. They said they'd let me in but they needed to frisk me. "No problem," I thought, "I'm planning on using this syringe anyway," completely forgetting about the gun I was carrying. They start shooting. I die. I remain very bad at video games.

  4. Is this also the thread for the Olympics? I'm super excited for the Olympics this year.

I am too. I actually have cable now (or a streaming cable equivalent) so I'll be able to watch all the weirder sports. I don't necessarily want to watch people run track and field events, but I'm all in on competitive trampoline.

  5. I've been a pretty big soccer fan for a while, though I'm not as into it as I used to be. When I was in high school and playing on a team + my high school team I was crazy into it and would actually record and watch every single premier league game (10 a week). These days I'm a lot more casual about it and mostly just watch big games and international competitions. I do have season tickets for the San Jose Earthquakes, they started the season alright, but have kind of become just mediocre at this point.

I'd take the Quakes's mediocrity while still making the playoffs as opposed to the Columbus Crew's occasional flashes of decent play mixed in with a whole bunch of disappointment.

  6. I just finished my first successful Marrakesh run. I was a bit skeptical at first because the level seems so crowded. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get a disguise without being noticed. Luckily, I wandered off the main streets and was able to pull a plan together.

I wandered upstairs in a shop in the market to find a woman on the phone talking about the tunnels running from a shoe store to the consulate. I found the shoe store, made my way into the tunnels after stealing a guard disguise, and triggered an evacuation for the banker. I slipped into his guard detail and walked with them over to the school where the general had set up his temporary compound. When I arrived, I heard the two guards talking about the prisoner the general was going to interrogate, so I followed up on that, getting an officer outfit, sending the guards in his room away, and taking the prisoner's place. Then the general showed up, allowing me the chance to take him out. From there, I just needed to walk upstairs to take out the banker and run like hell for the exit. Not the most exciting run, but it worked.

Anybody find a particularly silly/over the top way to finish the mission yet?

  7. I think I was referring to Are You The One, as it was the only one whose premise intrigued me. That shoe is fucking amazing.

I'm legitimately excited for the new season to start. I never thought I'd say that when I first started listening to Rose Buddies.

  8. If you're a fan of soccer, this summer is pretty great. Copa America kicks off on Friday and the Euros start a week after that. Meanwhile, the MLS team in my town continues to play and is starting to not look terrible. Is anyone else dealing with a growing soccer/football/whatever else you prefer to call it obsession?

  9. Congrats to both of you. I'd love to try boxing, or any sort of combat, but my wrists are like tendonitis city. I have played around with boxing gloves/pads and always end up with aching wrists after a few seconds of throwing punches.

I know this post is a couple of weeks old at this point, but do you use hand wraps? I when I first started boxing, I only bought gloves, but no wraps, and I had the same problem. If you're wrapping your hands properly, your wrist and knuckles should be pretty well locked in place and should hold up pretty well over the course of a longer workout.

  10. Has anyone else been playing Arcade mode? It doesn't count towards your Profile stats(you still get XP and level up though) but makes up for it by being completely insane and a lot of fun. It's Overwatch but on set maps and with some modifiers and it changes each week. This week it's(I think) double health, abilities charge 4 times as fast and ultimates charge faster also. With these settings as Pharah you can spend the entire match in the air since your Shift boost ability takes 3 seconds to recharge. Just managed to live through an entire 10 minute match as her thanks to this. It's nuts and I love it.

In the open beta, the arcade mode was a random hero thing, which was actually pretty fun. It forced everyone to try characters they weren't familiar with, and (at least for me) made the whole thing feel like it had lower stakes. I'll definitely be playing some arcade mode as they cycle through different options.

  11. Did you do this just by doing every single opportunity, or is there some other trick to getting more mastery? I'm at 10 in both places and it feels like a heck of a grind to get to 20.

I think I ended up doing all of the main opportunities, but I didn't complete nearly all of the challenges. Basically, I found it pretty fun to look through the challenges and plan out runs where I complete a bunch of challenges at once ("OK, I can get the flower delivery disguise which will complete one challenge, then disguise myself as the golf pro and complete another one. Then I'll try to eliminate Silvio with a cannon and make my escape by speed boat completing two more.")

Doing it that way, it didn't take too many runs to get to 20. But then again, I was bored at the time with not too much else to play.

  12. Oooh, another new level? I just escalated France and haven't even done a Sapienza escalation yet. It almost feels like they're coming out too quick.

I haven't done all of the escalations, but I did get both Paris and Sapienza to mastery 20. Between this, Overwatch, and the Witcher expansion, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with stuff to play at the moment.

  13. Stupid thought of the day so far: "I've had a productive morning working from home. I'll take a break for a few minutes and check out the new Hitman level."

Or maybe I'll take a break in several hours when the game finishes downloading 7GB of stuff.

  14. Is anyone else listening to Griffin's show Rose Buddies that he is doing with his wife?

I'm watching the show that they, I think, are going to be watching between bachelorverse shows, and this shit is bananas.

This is late, but I've gotten into Rose Buddies lately. My wife has been a Bachelor (hate) watcher for a while now, but I've always avoided it...mostly because 2 hours a week for a reality show seems like way too much to me. I got into the podcast when they started doing their "Rose Buddiez" series on other shows and I liked it enough that I stuck around for the new Bachelorette season.

Which show was the bananas one that you were posting about? There were so many. The hotel hookup show. The Chinese insult comedy dating show. Are You The One, which is just the perfect reality TV show.

This might be weird, but I think part of the appeal for me is to see who the McElroy spouses are, since I've been listening to podcasts made by these weirdos since the Joystiq era.

  15. I think the players kinda pushed it that way because they so single mindedly pursued what they thought they needed to do. Austin seems to like letting the players drive the game, for better or for worse, and I really enjoy where that takes things.

Also this weeks episode was super good. I love this show.

I wasn't sure about season 2 since I've never been into anime, but I've really enjoyed where things have ended up. The last few episodes have just felt super stressful to listen to. I know I'm not playing so it shouldn't affect me how it does, but I can't really help it.

  16. Uncharted 4 of course and bloodborne are musts. Um that's it really for exclusives.

Until dawn is supposed to be good... Although i haven't played it.

If you didn't have a PS3: The last of us Remastered

I'll probably pick up Uncharted 4 at some point. I liked 2 a lot but 3 was pretty forgettable. The internet collectively seems to be enjoying 4 quite a bit.

I feel kind of bad about this, but I watched the Giant Bomb East guys play through Until Dawn, so I don't know if I really want to play it. I enjoyed watching it, so I sort of feel like I should pay for it (as its the kind of weird thing that hope keeps getting made) but paying full price for something that I've already seen through to the end isn't ideal. Maybe I'll pick it up on a sale.

I had quite a bit of fun in Destiny but the online-only aspect really irritated me after a while. Now that I've let my Plus lapse Sony has also effectively removed a game from my library that I paid for.

Destiny is pretty cheap (under $10 on Amazon at the moment), but I don't really know anyone who plays it. Most of my game playing friends are PC people, and Destiny seems like a game you need at least another person or two to enjoy. Are any Thumbs still playing regularly enough to want to group up in the next few weeks?

  17. So I guess I'm getting a PS4? My wife wants to try Playstation VUE instead of cable and I want to play Bloodborne. Outside of that, I was wondering what games are worth a look. I already have a decent PC, so any recommendations of games that are only on consoles or only on PS4 are welcome. Anything else I should know?
