Keep it coming!
The only reason I'm sick of the constant reinforcement of pre-War stuff is that it's now buried 250+ years in Fallout's past. It's like if our only reference for American history was the revolution and we all still felt that the "proper" way to walk around was in wigs and tri-corner hats.
I haven't played Skyrim, but I appreciated that they apparently made some drastic changes to the worlds of Morrowind and Cyrodiil—you can't go home to those old games again! Fallout 2 tried to do that, but the sequel mostly ignored that the world changes over the course of two or three generations.
They do reference actions taken in the previous fallout games, but only those that the player had to take. It gets messy quickly including a broad range of choices and incorporating those into the next game. For example I assume the canonical ending of fallout 3 is the player purifying the water of the capitol wasteland and not using the canister that president Eden gave you. Unless Bethesda does another Warp in the West.

As someone who grew up in Massachusetts and had to go on the Freedom Trail tour more times than I can count as part of history class, I still find it hilarious that the only Boston landmark I ever recognize is the Statehouse.
I saw a Paul Revere looking statue in there which I assume is real?

This is exactly how I felt. It didn't show anything that we don't already know about Fallout in general, and there wasn't actually any exposition on what this game specifically is about. Personally I've never felt that the dog is a defining element of Fallout, and having this whole pre-war prologue stuff feels about as necessary as explaining Batman's origin story again. This is all old ground.
Well we know its in Boston, that is something. I agree about the lack of story teasers, but if you look at the FO3 and NV trailers they dont touch on story in the first one. At least we got ingame footage which is more than many games do.

Canon protagonists in shooters...
Canon protagonists in shooters never changes...
I was hoping the default lead would be a female ghoul. I want a ghoul character option so much!

Just did the reservation thing on my Surface Pro3 will try out windows 10 there before putting it on my gaming tower.

I mean, is it really tone deaf? It's sort of just a caricature of that time period, not really meant to be some social statement.
All the fallout games have that, the pre-war setting was pretty much 1950s culture with robots and lasers, that will never change unless they set the game in a different country (which would rock).
Look at all those non-brown colors!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy hell Blatter is resigning. I won't expect this will cure the mountain of ailments that plague FIFA but that is a wonderful step. Now if he winds up in handcuffs at some point in the near future too, that would be wonderful.
Can we start betting on chances he will end up in Russia?

I feel like the "internet of things" has probably had its time and is done as a phrase. I think it would feel oddly dated to hear it mentioned now.
It could be the new TV for the Microsoft presentation.

I wonder how much VR news there will be. I am expecting some from Sony and would love Fallout 4 with Oculus support. Also will anyone mention the internet of things?

looks cool. Although I'm still way behind in terms of keeping up with the DLC. Nearly finished my Legacy of Rome-centric playthrough (started as a duke in the Bzaytine Empire, managed to become Despot of Serbia and Leon, now slowly losing everything to muslims with only a few years left on the clock.
Two questions:
- any tips for how to do anything against the Muslims? Their empire is huge and my armies are hugely outnumbered. Although, when I've tried playing as a Muslim in southern spain, I find it really hard to make headway as the Catholics all team up against my efforts to expand.
- any general interface/mechanic "tip-of-the-day" tips? I'm sure there are better ways to play the game, more useful map modes, etc.
Thanks
1) when fighting a large empire as a small state your options are minimal. Are you still a vassal of the Byzantines? If yes than I recommend trying to become independent and then offer fealty to either the muslim empire or the HRE. If you can't beat em, join em. Spain is a hard spot to play as a Muslim since you have to fight the tides of history, I suggest trying Egypt or North Africa.
2) I have over 800 hours in game and am still learning things. I don't think there is a tip of the day tool, I do check out the forums occasionally, especially the quick answers thread for ideas/tips/tricks, https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/crusader-kings-ii-quick-answers.586872/page-942

Whatever happened to that Fallout MMO? Did that die completely, never to return? Could they bring that back somehow?
I hope not, I am already worried about what ESO means for the next elder scrolls game. I don't want to lose Fallout to WoW clone disease.

I always get excited for open world shooters since they are the only ones that do sniping correctly. I hope it isn't an HD remake of games that came out less than 10 years ago, but i don't think Bethesda has done any makeovers yet? As long as there is a big new world full of things for me to shoot and fun storylines to explore I will be happy.

New Expansion announced, I'm excited to sack all the things:
"The Horse Lords are coming to Crusader Kings II.The nomadic invasions of the Mongol and Turkic steppe tribes transformed the history of Europe, the Near East and much of Asia. In the meantime, prepare to meet the Great Khan on the field of battle; your stone walls won’t help you." -
Procedurally generated maps sound interesting, I do hope there will be controlled randomness in the generation so you don't end up with totally unbalanced maps. But it will add a lot to replayability.

I'm hoping for VR ports of Pinball FX2 and Pinball Arcade, but I would only use VR at home. I don't know if that is useful to the mobile question.
It could be nice on planes. I am just sceptical of mobile gamings ability to really utilize VR well.

As part of my day job I've been researching the state-of-the-art VR stuff for a few months now, glad to see there's a reasonable level of excitement amongst the intelligent gamer community.
I was wondering what your thoughts are on mobile? It seems pretty obvious that mobile could be the biggest, quickest adoption of this technology in the near-term. Do we think there's scope for interesting gaming or narrative drive content on a mobile system or is everyone hyped about Half Life 3 in VR too much?
I think mobile games would have to get a lot better to make VR worth it. Not sure what VR brings to candy crush.

XCOM 2 announced. I really hope this will be a new game and not a repeat of Beyond Earth. Hopefully the insurgent mechanics it hints at will drastically change the game. Maybe there will even be a morality system (cause those are great). I am cautiously optimistic.

This robot will be so good at jumping over our corpses.

i got annoyed replaying Blue due to the number of menus in the combat system. Pick type of action, pick action, confirm, effect, confirm, counter attack, confirm, repeat.

I can't find a good link for it, but there are theories that the Moon either doesn't exist or was created recently. Mind Boggled.

I just started The Animated Series. I didn't realise it was the whole TOS cast, i guess i assumed it had more changes. I do like the shorter episodes so far since the bad writers have less of a chance to pile up BS.
-
i dislike JRPGs because of the propensity for badly written, badly delivered plots, repetitive bland combat, sexist character design and awful music. I have many of these issues with Japanese games in general, but if the game play is fun, the Ace Combat series for example, I can overcome some of these issues.

I prefer third person since it is better at simulating how much a person can see as well as situational awareness. There are so many mechanics in FPS games that are trying to simulate what is just part of a third person perspective. I would be interested in how differently GTA5 plays between first and third person.

Any open world game not in New York, Metropolis, Empire City, Liberty City etc gets points in my book.
