    Im all for tipping, but I have a real problem ordering a meal that costs me $29 and ending up with a $43 bill after everyone has taken their cut of "fees".

     

    Plus the driver is already "Tipped" as part of the delivery fee.

     

    Its not my job to pay their base salary and tip them at the same time.  Postmates can pay them a base salary and give them that 80% of the delivery fee like they currently do.

     

    Cheesecake Factory:

    Total:  $29.05

    +Service Fee: $2.62  (what service?  Delivery?  See next line)

    +Delivery Fee: $6.00  (postmates driver gets 80% - nearly a $5 tip here already)

    +Tip: $5.65

     

    Original total:  $29.05

     

    New Total:  $43.32

     

    Sorry, but that's bullsh*t ......  

     

    I dont tip $10.65 on a $29 order.  

    I will however tip $5 on a $29 order just like when Pizza Hut comes to my house.

    That $5.00 goes to them from the delivery fee. 

    So no more tipping with Postmates.

    I used to tip.  I wont be after this order.   Postmates can figure it out with their delivery people.   Maybe remove that silly "service fee" and stop calculating my "tip" based on the total after all the fees (sneaky, dishonest) instead of the meal itself.

     

    Whats bullshit is companies relying on the tip economy to subsidize a poverty wage. Your meal would cost about the same if the staff made a living wage, so help out your fellow human by paying them a little bit?

    As for delivery people figuring it out with postmate I would refer you to the current state of unions in this country (under attack from the right wing media and governments) and the power disparities between corporations and employees which are amplified by the gig economy things like Uber and Postmates relies on.

    I just wanted to say I saw the Nationalists win the Spanish Civil war very quickly. I totally stayed out of it, building up my neo-ottoman empire as Turkey. I personally like the game, since it lets me tweak one knob in WWII history and see how things turn out as a result. My Neo-Ottoman Empire conquered Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman before joining the Allies as the war turned Against the Axis. It was a ton of fun!

    I can confirm that the game is much more understandable than HoI3. I played the tutorial quick then jumped into playing Turkey. My plan was to conquer Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen and snag Armenia/Azerbaijan from Iran. After that I would wait for the war to turn against the Germans and join the Allies to secure some more European territory for my Ottoman Empire 2.0.

    My plan went fine up until the war with Iran. I quickly secured my objectives but due to a miss-understanding of how war score works I ended up having to conquer most of Iran to get them to surrender a relatively small part of their nation. The end result of which was a very long war that ended with my just claiming all of Iran because I had already conquered most of it.

     

    The next hurdle was joining the Allies. I had used my National Focus to industrialize and try to get nukes (My end goal was a Turkey controlling almost all of Middle East oil and with a few Nukes in its pocket, making it a Cold War powerhouse.) As a result I had a different ideology than the allies and they would not let me in. I solved this by declaring a war of conquest on Fascist Bulgaria and getting pulled into the war when all their allies declared on me. Now on the allied side I was able to quickly smash Bulgaria and join up with the Soviet lines in Romania. (In my game the Soviets declared war on the Germans first and had been pushing a front line towards them for almost two years. The US seems sort of aimless? and France ended up liberating themselves.)

    I am not at the point where Europe has been completely liberated, but because all of Africa fell to the Italians and a little bit to Spain and Germans, the war has moved there, but is almost over. The problem now is that Japan is not getting attacked. Hopefully I can figure out how to build some nukes and shortcut my way to victory. I do not want to load Turkish troops onto boats to invade Japan.

    "In 2011, we added a feature to Steam that enabled users to trade in-game items as a way to make it easier for people to get the items they wanted in games featuring in-game economies.

     

    Since then a number of gambling sites started leveraging the Steam trading system, and there’s been some false assumptions about our involvement with these sites. We’d like to clarify that we have no business relationships with any of these sites. We have never received any revenue from them. And Steam does not have a system for turning in-game items into real world currency.

     

    These sites have basically pieced together their operations in two-part fashion. First, they are using the OpenID API as a way for users to prove ownership of their Steam accounts and items. Any other information they obtain about a user's Steam account is either manually disclosed by the user or obtained from the user’s Steam Community profile (when the user has chosen to make their profile public). Second, they create automated Steam accounts that make the same web calls as individual Steam users. 

     

    Using the OpenID API and making the same web calls as Steam users to run a gambling business is not allowed by our API nor our user agreements. We are going to start sending notices to these sites requesting they cease operations through Steam, and further pursue the matter as necessary. Users should probably consider this information as they manage their in-game item inventory and trade activity.

    I deleted last night after realizing how much cell phone data it was using and how fast it eats my battery. I also hit a wall on caring about catching them all. The game feels very shallow.

    I picked up PROTOTYPE 2 during the summer sale. After completing about 2/3rds of the game I hit a bug where I can no longer trigger any missions. I don't really feel like replaying the game right now. It was fun, but I think I liked the original game better, they simplified a lot of the systems and made the map smaller in ways that make me feel less like a god of destruction.

    Similarly The Darkness 2 crashes to desktop when I try to start a new game. Sad that there are so many broken games on steam Tom Clancy's HAWKS 2 is similarly bugged.

    Hey there,

     

    Been a Thumbs reader since Ep.141 but never got around to actually joining the forums. Occasionally the urge to post something would build up inside me, then subside before I could be bothered creating an account. But when the opportunity arose to post something from The Neverhood soundtrack in the latest episode thread, I knew I couldn't resist.

     

    I hail from New Zealand and (when I'm not truckin' round a simulation of Europe or trying to run old shoddy FMV games) I'm a part-time actor. Mostly semi-professional theatre work but I was once in a local TV series that ended up screening on the SyFy channel in the US.

     

    I tend to be more of a lurker than an active participant, but I'll pop up here and there. Even if I don't end up contributing too much, I have to say that I do appreciate this place. It's a nice forum you've got here.

    The Neverhood is a great reason to do anything :) Welcome!

    got the target

    My plan almost failed. I started as a soldier and took the proximity duck with the plan of the old toss and sprint. I got into the garage no problem but when I threw the duck the target bolted before it went off. Luckily I was heading for the embassy front entrance exit as he and his two bodyguards were heading for the escape tunnel. I hid behind an APC and as they moved past I shot him several times then fled up the stairs. Escaped out into the market and got away. Not clean, but I got it done.

    It's tough to unlock as much in Marrakech because there are only two escalations and they are damn hard.

    It took me a little while, but I have been getting really good at save scumming to get as many master points as I can in one go. The best unlock, starting as an elite soldier, is somewhere near lvl 10 as well.
