I don't know anything about that specific game but anything with co-op intrigues me.  Can you describe it a bit?

Meanwhile We Need To Go Deeper looks like it could be some amusing co-op.  2-4 people play as a submarine crew with different positions that need to be manned such as steering, engineering, and torpedoes.  You explore a randomly generated Jules Verne inspired ocean and gather loot and improvements to your ship by disembarking into undersea caves.  It's kind of like underwater FTL where you each control a crewmember.

Wildlands is an open world 1-4 player third person shooter coop game set in Latin America where you are an American soldier man killing lots of drug dealers. The story line looks like hot military garbage, but the potential fun of a four player open world stealth/shooty game intrigues me. I was a huge fan of coop in Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2 and like the idea of Wildlands. Definitely going to wait for release though.

I have a 970. Sometimes I have a real problem getting the headset positioned right. It'll be correct for one eye, but strained for the other. I probably should go to an eye doctor at some point. I definitely didn't have problems reading the text before though, so it's directly related to the video settings I've chosen.

even with the adjustment knob on the front?

This site seems neat, but I'm having a hard time rating things. There are so many movies that I've seen, but I don't have strong feelings about one way or the other. I don't want to give them a middling score, because that feels mean!

My scale is based on how much i would be willing to watch it again 0-35 is "Never again" 36-55 is "Ok sure I guess" "56-75" "Yes" 76-100 "Hell yes!"

  4. Watched Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom last night after discovering them on Prime video. I have seen Raiders and Crusade before but never Doom. The difference in quality is stark. Raiders has racism for sure, but nothing even close to the scale of what Doom has. The whole plot, the rituals, the banquet scenes, short round, its all so horrible! I'm sad I ran out of time and couldn't end my night with Crusade which i remember being pretty good.

My partner and I really liked The Expanse season one but we're a little tentative on s2 after seeing the trailer. Idk I just hope it stays a sci-fi noir political drama.

As someone who has read all the books I can say yeah pretty much.

The Expanse, which  I really enjoyed. It looks great, has a bunch of character actors doing good work, and the world-building is really detailed and interesting. Only ten episodes, too, which was a good choice. It doesn't spoon-feed you exposition, either, which is great. Unfortunately, it instead ends you off to exposition fat camp and wires your jaw shut. That is to say, it's very hard to follow what's going on, harder than The Wire for instance. After about five of the episodes and some Wikipedia episode summary readings, I had a feel for how all the different factions and plot threads intersected.

Only the Earth plotline lets it down - it could easily be lifted out wholesale without affecting the rest of the show, and it revolves around a miscast Shohreh Aghdashloo, who fluffs pretty much every single line reading.

I am excited that they decided to not try and cram one book into each season. S1 ends about 3/4 of the way through the first book. Also the Earth storyline is fabricated by the show, they wanted to bring Avasarala into the show earlier than she appears in the books and she doesn't even swear as much as she should :(

    I finally saw The Martian.

It was okay but man there were a lot of things that bothered me about the movie. I actually enjoy Matt Damon quite a bit and I think his performance is the only thing that really holds the movie together. They spent too much time on other characters but not enough time for me to become invested in any of them. I didn't like that a random genius comes out of nowhere to offer a clever solution to get Matt Damon home and then promptly disappears, never to be seen or mentioned again. I also think the classic rock montages of Damon doing Mars shit were poorly executed and way too drawn out. But what bothered me most is how they Hollywood-ified so many parts of the movie to add tension. I was able to completely predict the series of events and setbacks that Matt Damon would experience because they literally just pulled out The Checklist that so many movies seem to follow. The only thing I didn't predict was that Iron Man shit because I just didn't think they would get that ridiculous.

It really just made me want to go watch Cast Away again.

Some of that is probably them trying to cover as much of the book as possible in a film. Those characters are much more fleshed out in the books.

I had heard of Subnautica, but yeah I kind of want a VR relaxation game. Subnautica sounds like it has crafting and survival, and neither relax me. Haha.

You could play it in creative mode but its not a great game in that mode

do you know if Abzu has a VR mode (or one planned)? When it first came out I feel like I kept saying "this would make a great VR game... I'll play it when they add VR mode."

It doesn't. If you want a diving game with VR: Subnautica has it although that game is decidedly less chill in deeper areas.

Does anyone know when Season 3 is coming out?

I've been hankering for some Elite but don't want to pick up Horizons yet if Season 3 is around the corner - cursory googling has led me down several paths hah.

From what I understand Season 2 is supposed to cover 5 expansions. Since we don't have 2.3 and 2.4 is still unknown (Maybe related to ALIENS?!?!?!?!??!) I think its safe to say the season 3 announcement won't happen until later this year. If Horizions is a guide, announce in August, release in December. But it could take longer.

Regarding the end of the podcast where the Thumbs say they are more inclined to talk about whatever rather than just video games: I wanted to chime in and say that I have always liked when the discussion broadens. (For reference, I started listening in 2008.) Like when Chris was really enthusiastic about the Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy film from a few years ago, it encouraged me to watch it, and read the books. I have now read seven or eight John Le Carré novels and I adore them. I had hoped a few years ago that the podcast would turn more into a nerd-adjacent culture show, and maybe that's what the episode 300 era will be.

    :tup::tup::tup:

I tried getting into the books but really disliked A Murder of Quality. Is that book an aberration or par for the course?

  12. Tried to get silent assassin on this run, I want those outfits! #FashionHitman

I almost did it stealthily but meleed instead of injecting enigmatic poison, had already knocked out the guard but had to beat down the two hackers. tossed him over the stairwell, tried to leave, had to go back for the files. Some day I will get silent assassin on an Elusive.

  13. I am in the market for a new standup comedy podcast. I have ditched Put Your Hands Together because they have repeatedly messed up editing and will cut out entire sets, I find this super annoying. I think I've also tired of the hosts. I had similar host fatigue with 2 Dope Queens. I think I would like a show that is just new and different standup every week without long host monologues if that's possible? I any case any recommendations?
