  1. If anyone wants to me on steam I play pretty regularly

Yeam man, add me I am YoThatLimp.

This game is super addictive, "alright, will just loot one more house" . Of course after hours of barely scraping buy I find both a shotgun and an M4 in the last building in town. No ammo though.

I had my closest call yet without dying to another human. I spawned into Berezino with a fresh character and was looting the big apartment blocks and was on the top floor and I found a can of beans and a can opener. Super pumped I crouched and chowed down only to hear shots fired into the room from somewhere. The unknown shooter kept pumping the room full of bullets and I made a hasty retreat out of there, phew.

I wish the game incentive team work. there is all the incentive in the world (supplies) to kill a stranger, but none to leave him be or help him. I have only met one friendly dude in my time with the game and he was a fresh character. Obviously once you are geared up you don't want to lose it, but the whole 'Kill on sight' thing kind of sucks!

  2. Hey thinkklinck we play each saturday at around 8pm GMT. We meet at Guglovo. If your able please move your character towards Guglovo before we start.

You can check all the info in the steamgroup http://steamcommunity.com/groups/dayzthumbs You may want to join to group it makes joining us in game a lot easier.

Too bad you wont be able to make it YoThatLimp, in the future we could consider switching days.

No worries dude, I know you guys tend to play fairly late so I can always meet up with you later. Still have to get out of Electro alive, have been busy with school this week hah.

  3. Good session dudes! Will try to gather some supplies for next weekend.

After being gun downed by the dick in Zelenogorsk I spawned in Solnichniy and met up with Vanaman. We headed down to Electro  and met a few dudes along the way but that is about it. Might wipe this character as I haven't found much. I really hate the coast.

  4. Yes we are meeting up in Guglovo at the same time as always. Don't worry about the light, I've three headtorches and batteries. As long as my character doesn't revert again we should be fine.

I was lucky to have my character restore back to a few weeks ago, when I had a mosin with scope and bayonet attached. I just did a scavenge run this morning to gather more supplies. Few things I've noticed since the new patch:

    • shotguns
    • hacksaws
    • military berets that look cool, but offer no head protection
    • radio transmitters, that can be used to communicate on a specific frequency
    • variable zombie models
    • spraypaint cans to paint your weapons
    • new soda cans: Pipsi, Spite, NotaCola and Rasputin Cola
    • fresh fruits seemed to spawn more often as opposed to rotten ones
    • weapon cleaning kits (apparently they are bugged and shouldn't be used on "pristine" weapons as that'll degrade them to "worn".
    • server browser now has column for time of day

So I've managed to gather up a good deal of supplies for our event later today. My backpack is completely full with extra junk that I can share with folks once we meetup. In fact, I have no space left in my inventory for food. So please help me get rid of this junk:

    • bayonet attachment for M4
    • weapon flashlight for M4
    • 3 headtorches
    • 3 batteries
    • flashlight
    • handcuffs with keys
    • 2 weapon cleaning kits
    • 75% full green spraypaint can (I used it on my mosin and now I can blend in to the foliage with my camo pants, green helmet, green backpack and green vest).
    • Shitload of bandages
    • Ammo for mosin, revolver and pistol.

Nice! Did not read the last set of patch notes, the addition of that new stuff sounds awesome. Excited to see a shotgun at some point.

  5. Weird stuff. I fired up DayZ after listening to Sean talk about it on the podcast to see if my character was wiped and actually my character was restored back to my characters 2 weeks ago when it was wiped after re-connecting to quickly sitting at the pump in Guglovo. Not complaining, saves me 40 minutes i would spending getting back but still super weird.

  6. The supplies-system is messed up. I'm pretty sure that I have bought supplies in a town and then have them not show up once we start trekking (I'm talking about buying a large quantity of supplies and them not showing up).

I completely agree about the buying supplies with renown. I would prefer supplies to be based entirely on the decision-instances.

Its a little convoluted, but I think the formula that is happening is  (number of supplies/size of of party=days of food)

So you could buy 28 "supplies" but if your caravan is huge that is not going to make much of a dent in the ways of full days of supplies for t hem.

  7. Alright so after 2 hours, a lot of blood loss and a 30 zombies murdered with my fists of rage I am fairly stocked up. Picked my way east and found 2 fire axes and a mosin and some ammo. My screen is definitely desaturated still.

If I used my rags to stop bleeding will i regain blood?  I have 2 sets of bandages. I have been popping vitamins every time I stop and eat to see if that would help, but not sure!

  8. Well I did it! Thanks guys! Now to sneak around in a janitor uniform!

Matrix seems a whole lot easier now that I'm aware of how these things work, haha. I didn't end up keeping the alarm from going off (it was already too high by this point), but I did manage to kill the deckers by running away and coming back with full health, so it worked out.

Yeah, I wish they had not forced the Matrix stuff on you. It was cool, I just didn't dig the system that much, felt a little too "gamey". here is this thing that will take your character ages to complete, here is wave after wave of enemy!

  9. Just to completely bombard this page with my posts, if anyone wants to play DayZ NOT on a Saturday I'm up for it. If people need basic gear or want to make weapon runs or just go get shot a bunch. Name's the same in the steam group.

Just made it to Guglovo. I brought a syringe full of Plyem's blood we can inject into people on Saturday, just to immunize them from him.   What times are you on normally? I am keen.

  10. I had a similar experience. I didn't initially understand the relationship between a unit's health and its ability to inflict damage. Once I figured that out, and gained a better understanding of when to attack armor rather than health, I really came to like the combat mechanics, especially the importance of positioning. At times, it almost feels like a game of Viking Battle Chess.

    Oh, you mean Hnefatafl?

  11. I msg'd you last night as you popped up on steam playing eve.

    Been toying with a re-sub.

I have such an itch to re-sub up every 4 months or so.I have never was too deep, but as a newb I saved up and I built my first real mining barge and lost it in the same day in high sec to pirates. Broke my god damned heart.

  12. I should be getting Episode 1 at some point for the KIckstarter donation thing. There's a launch party thingy in Austin sometime later this month I'm going to. I can't wait. I really want these guys to do well so that I can work for them!

Man, this game really snuck up on me. I have  been trying to keep myself in the dark with this game so I am not really sure of the scope of this anymore, trying to go in fresh.

  13. I loved everything about this game!

    Exceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeept

Spider lady felt so forced. The second she pushed aside that rock, I was like, "is she gonna be a spider lady" AND WHAT THE FUCK I CALLED IT. Ugh. I also... felt absolutely nothing when Big Bro died because I was expecting it the whole time from the first five minutes of the game basically. Yuck. But then... you get back home, and Li'l Bro is all "I'm scared of the water" and you're like "what do I do I can't get past this invisible wall" and then you're like "what if..." and THEN it hit me and I was suddenly sad. So that was fucking awesome. And I mean that.

but seriously fuck the spider lady

Man what a goddamn gorgeous game. And the amount of care they put into making the animations not feel AWKWARD when characters are touching each other. I've become so accustomed to seeing an absolutely absurd amount of clipping when video game characters hug that it was almost surreal NOT seeing it happen everywhere. Still wasn't perfect, but I'm glad they took the time to make it as good as they did. Especially considering what the game is.

Yeah the whole plot point seemed a bit cliched, but I think that was the point since it seems to be drawing from folk tales. I loved the end mechanic and the art style but overall the game didn't click with me for some reason.

  14. This game was 100% what I wanted/expected. Plenty of quibbles, none of which actually negatively impacted my overall enjoyment.

All the kickstarter stuff I backed has been great fun so far!

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I just finished this game a few days ago and i thought it was a totally solid experience. Lacking a little polish, but it totally made up for it in setting and dialogue. My character Samurai X was a cool, bad ass lady. I dug the open skill system as well. The lack of a save button was a huge bummer though, some of those missions were a bit lengthy (especially towards the end). One of the better games I have played recently.
