  1. I don't get what all the fuss is about with Valve adding all the meaningless incentivization into Steam. Trading cards, cheeves, whatever - if you don't like it, don't worry about it! It's all completely optional, and if you have no interest in participating in any of it, you can still buy the same games for the same (deeply discounted) prices as everyone else! Hell, you can get games for cheaper, by selling off all your cards instead of crafting badges.

It just seems ridiculous to me to get so upset over a completely voluntary addition to a service that is otherwise fantastic for it's main purpose (that of digital distribution of games).

  2. Drunk me made some really questionable purchases on Friday night.  That guy is a dick.  For some reason he thought Euro Truck Simulator would be a riot, along with all of the Hitman games.  I don't even like the Hitman games.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is fucking awesome. I've played like 30 hours of it.

  3. I really want to, but I'm broke at the moment. :getmecoat

Niyeaux: put your friend code in the 3DS networking thread!

Roger that. Is it like the DS was, where you have to put a different pain in the ass friend code in for every game, or do you have one universal friend code now?

  4. Oh yeah, I bought the following during the sale:

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Explosion Pack DLC

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Tactical Pack DLC

Deus Ex Human Revolution: The Missing Link DLC

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Standard Edition

    System Shock 2

    FEZ

    Euro Truck Simulator 2

    Starseed Pilgrim

    Cart Life

    Receiver

  5. Still just got Mark the Ninja and Hotline Miami.

Alright I bought a Left 4 Dead 2 pack with a friend on the last day.

Oh man, you're in for some good times. Hotline Miami is one of my favourite games of the last couple years.

  6. So I just bought one of these things. So far I've just been playing Animal Crossing, which is pretty much the reason I bought it. Really enjoying it so far, and super intrigued by the whole streetpass thing, as it seems really cool. Probably gonna pick up Fire Emblem soon....any other titles I need to own?

Also, who wants to be Animal Crossing friends?

  7. What? How can you see that from my test video? Also, my philosophy is to always maximize the use of my money, buying the most expensive thing I can, since I'll never see that kind of money again – and boy was I right!

I can tell you have points in Haggle because Charon doesn't take all your gold at the beginning. I can tell you have points in bonus gold because you're getting 14 per drop, rather than the usual 10. And your health max is 186, which is relatively low.

I guess you could be playing miner, though, and be getting the bonus gold and health reduction from that.

Anyways, yeah. That's actually an interesting strategy, getting all the expensive stuff first. I wonder how that works out in the long run, as far as efficiency goes. I definitely felt like getting enough damage to one-shot the early monsters was a huge efficiency boost, because I can run the first few rooms and get a bunch of gold very quickly.

  8. I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but I thought this was interesting:

While we're all berating Valve for trying to make money off of this, it looks like the majority of the marketplace fees for selling these cards are actually going to the developers.

If I'm reading this right, it looks like a two thirds of the fees being charged are going to the developers/publishers, while only the remaining third of the fees is going to Valve.

  9. Yeah, I've got a couple mystery cards as well. I'm assuming they're Summer Sale related, since that should be starting pretty quick.

ps: I have an extra copy of Frozen Synapse in my inventory. If anyone wants to send some cards my way, it is yours.
