  1. When I heard Jake say "FUCK YOU" at the end of the podcast, I was really hoping that they implemented an idea that was previously brought up where one in every 10000 or so downloads would secretly redirect to an alternate version of the podcast and that I was the one guy who got the FUCK YOU ending.  Unless that actually happened in which case this is the best podcast of all time.

Ha. This was talked about in episode 129. Can't remember the details but I'm pretty sure Phaedrus was involved. And so the circle is completed.

  2. The video tutorials on the Unreal Engine youtube account have been pretty much invaluable to me over the past few months, and to my experience they've held up pretty well over time. What specifically have you been having trouble with? If it's some minor change in nomenclature, perhaps I could help out?

  3. Majoras Mask is my favorite Nintendo game, maybe my favorite console (non-PC) game.

For what it's worth, my favorite video game of any sort is Grim Fandango. And (and I'm starting to feel self conscious about how often I bring this up) February 13 is my birthday. So I like to think Nintendo and Double Fine are showing up with birthday presents this upcoming month that I have to pay for.

For what it's worth, you share a birthday with Junior Mints (unless I misheard that).

  4. today I've been doing a procedural ladder blueprint. you just give it the meshes you want to use (or use mine), a little bit of info, and pull a bunch of sliders around to change basically everything about the ladder. my mate donhonk is doing some art and we're gonna see if the ue4 marketplace wants it

this is a particularly useful thing for level designers because the alternatives are:
    -bullshit some ladders with brushes
-make bespoke ladder meshes for the particular spot where you need one
-have a few ladder meshes of various lengths and throw them together end-to-end hoping for the best (actually works better than you'd think when you're able to put part of the bottom section underground)

    anyway, this is better

    Neat!

  5. Is it just me who is terrible at this game? :D

I think I've hit my skill ceiling because every time I have friends around or go to a LAN, I will bring out Lethal League; and before the evening is done the new players will have surpassed my skill level.

I love this game, but it doesn't love me.

    P.S

    Have a jawbreaker.

  6. I stumbled across this video today. It's a supercut of Remo's daily challenge videos, from days 1 to 99. I really enjoyed seeing the skill progression from start to finish, and there were a few moments in there that I recognised from watching the original dailies over a year ago. Thought some of you would enjoy it too.

  7. Not directly my shit, though I've been working for them and am there doing production for the GameCity Festival this week: National video game Arcade

Since March, It has been enormously difficult to not speak those three words to anyone, and now I can shout them at the top of my lungs. GameCity moved into their very own building and, until the announcement last night, I spent the first half of the festival fielding questions like "How did you get permission to paint signs on the walls?" with answers like "Er, I dunno, it'll probably be fine".

They have more than thirty thousand square feet of building and I've been making arcade machines and installations for the past few weeks. Including this, since we accidentally ended up with a load of cat vinyl and it needed sprucing up:

    !!!!!

How exciting! I did not see this coming.

Also, it was cool meeting you on the weekend.

  8. Anyone filing a police report over harassment is accused of not actually filing a police report (because of course "they faked it"). Most seem to think filing an FOIA request for documentation of an ongoing police investigation is fair play and won't be flagged in any way (This assumption in particular makes me think of them as flawed systems thinkers. It reminds me of how broken and biased toward the player game systems tend to be. The guards will forget you. You can always succeed. Means definitely justify the ends, etc.).

That's a really interesting connection there. I don't have anything to add other than to say that I really dig the observations in this post.
