Thanks, Ben! Yeah, I'm signing up for the first time and figuring things out has been a mildly daunting experience haha. I'll stick it out though since it seems to be where all of the cool people are fleeing to as a Twitter alternative.

Is there anything special I would need to do to join up on the instance? With Twitter currently being even more of a dumpster fire than usual, I figured hopping on a familiar Mastodon instance would be a good idea.

Oh maaaan, this is great! I love how it sounds like they actually recorded everything in the tiny apartment that the video was shot in (which may be the case?). That dirty, semi-low-fi bass is so good. I'm also on my 3rd Gin Sling, so maybe Ozzie has a point ;P.

I'm beginning to suspect that the Woodsmen may be the cause of the noises coming from Sarah Palmer's house. Earlier in the episode, during her meltdown in the grocery store, she warns the cashiers to watch out for 'them' (or something along those lines). This all got me thinking of Gordon's vision of the Woodsmen on a staircase in the previous episode. If you compare that shot with one of the staircase in the Palmer house, the similarities are rather striking. Check it out: Of course, I could be making connections where there are none (I'm even second guessing myself as I write this), but at this point, who knows.

Haha I was definitely a fan of both halves of the song but I've liked most of Bowie's music throughout the years so that may account for something. I think one of the biggest strengths this track has is how it incorporates the stylistic changes of Bowie's music throughout the years. It's bookended with a drum/sax/synth combo that would feel right at home on Outside, with a middle section straight out of Ziggy Stardust (also a 68-year-old Bowie groovin' out to said middle section, which will never get old). Anyway, now that I'm done rambling like an idiot about David Bowie, have some rad music videos from Lorn:

I just beat this a week or two ago and found it enjoyable over all, despite a lot of the complaints mentioned already. That said, the one thing that really stood out to me which doesn't that doesn't seem to be mentioned here, is the lack of ambient music for a good chunk of the game. If I remember correctly, the only time any music of this sort appears is in the Frontier map and even then, it's a rare occurrence. Which is a shame since I've always felt the music helped a great deal in establishing an overall tone when exploring the vast cities of the series. The music from AC2's Venice section stands out in particular.

Well, it's been about a week since I stopped playing so I think it's safe to say that I've given up on Hitman: Absolution. For the most part I enjoyed the game for what it was, a decent stealth game wearing Agent 47s suit, fibre wire, and bar coded, bald head. The game also had a few fun missions the involved taking out two or three targets on a map (notably the Chinatown missions). Actually, I found the entire first act where you're in Chicago(?) to be pretty well executed. Unfortunately around the time the stripper nuns showed up, the game began to erode my patience and I was slowly burning out. By the time the final mission rolled around, I had to turn the game off to go out for the night and now have no desire to boot it back up to finish it off.

While I can certainly see the benefits to using an eReader, they really aren't for me. I just can't justify switching over to one when between work, internet, and gaming, I'm already spending a ridiculous chunk of my life staring at screens of various shapes and sizes. I feel now more than ever, having a good book in my hand is a great escape from everyday life. Plus it's always nice to have some tactile feedback from the weight and page turning.

Just to add to the STALKER love, I think Call to Pripyat is the only game in recent memory to nearly give me a heart attack. The oppressive darkness of that game's night time, combined with a rather nasty monster that I was hunting who was lunging for my throat didn't help things. Though, the anecdote on how I managed to kill it may be better suited for another thread.
