  1. Oh, right. I thought you were using two Mareeps/two Eevees, but I guess it's more efficient to use the Masuda Method if you're not picky about stats.

...I am eternally grateful for my 6IV Japanese Ditto.

(shiny Eevee is rad. I've been thinking about doing one. I really like Sylveon and Umbreon's shiny forms)

  2. There's a fairly sizable fire going on a few blocks away. I was out walking and didn't notice the huuuuge plume of smoke until I rounded the corner to my street. I thought it might have been my place at first, so it's good that it's not, but still. The whole area is covered in smoke. I can still smell it inside.

  3. The Lost World isn't so much a bad movie as it is a nearly equal balance of good movie and bad movie.

Also, when I was working at Blockbuster, it was kind of a beloved film among some of the staff for the scene where a Blockbuster gets destroyed during the San Diego bit.

  4. Hey, if you haven't gotten one through Streetpass yet (or if you're like me and you stupidly reset your game after receiving one through Streetpass), the Eon Ticket is available as a Mystery Gift until Monday. You just need to enter a code: "2015LATIOSLATIAS" if you're in North America or "“POKEMON380381″" if you're in Europe. The Eon Ticket allows you access to the Southern Island, where you can catch Latias in Omega Ruby or Latios in Alpha Sapphire. They're confirmed to NOT be shiny locked like their sibling in the story mode, so you can soft-reset for a shiny one if you're some kind of masochist.

  5. I did a t-shirt design for a tabletop gaming club as a more expensive commission. I feel like there's a few things I would have put more time into if I had been getting paid more, but I'm really pleased with the overall look.

  6. 614 is a lot of defense I assume?

614 is the highest Defense can go.

Shell Smash raises my defenses by +.5x every time I use it (so 1.5x, 2.0x, 2.5x, etc), while lowering my offenses and speed in turn. It normally has the opposite effect, but Contrary reverses stat changes.

Toxic inflicts a variant of poison that deals exponentially higher percentage-based damage each turn.

Infestation deals a tiny amount of damage on its own, but then traps the opponent for a few turns and deals percentage-based damage each turn, kind of like poison (it's usually 1/8 of total HP per turn, but Binding Band raises it to 1/6).

Rest self-inflicts sleep for two turns (which overwrites any other status conditions like poison) and fully recovers my HP.

I had already beaten another of that guy's legendaries earlier, and at that point in the fight I was at max health and 2.5x defenses while he was suffering from Infestation.

    Don't fuckle with Shuckle.

  7. That octopus discussion (things I never thought I'd type on this forum; that) reminded me of a documentary style show I saw a couple of years ago.

It was a loosely-scientific "what if" about Earth, when in millions of years the tectonic plate cycle creates a new super-continent. There was a lot of projections about how various species could evolve, but the highlight was the end of the episode in which they were asked what the new dominant species would be. The answer was squids. Because the climate of this hypothetical earth would be more wet and rain-forest covered, it would allow squids to become landbased.

Cue the rendered video of squids swinging from trees like monkeys.

I tracked that special down a while back to rewatch it and man does it not hold up. The CG is terrible and some of the ideas (particularly the landsquid) are pretty scientifically unsound.
