  1. So in an exciting new development in the neverending cavalcade of bullshit, yet another white officer murdered yet another black man, this time by confusing his gun with his taser. What makes it extra fun this time around is that the officer in question hasn't been a police officer since he left the force after a year almost five decades ago. He's just some rich guy who makes generous donations to the local police and, in exchange, they let him tag along and play cop, because that's apparently a thing that you can do in America, because why the fuck not?

  2. That is some cringe-inducing shit.

EDIT: I just got to the "SJWs ruined cartoons" thing oh my goooood

EDIT EDIT: does this guy think that 1 out of 10,000 and 99 out of 100 add up to 100%?

EDIT EDIT EDIT: I had to stop.

I think my favourite thing about this is his continued comparison of video games to Bugs Bunny cartoons. Buddy, unless you are secretly eighty years old, the Looney Tunes shit you saw on TV as a kid was already censored to hell, and if you really want to see them completely unchecked, you can go buy the uncensored versions on Blu-Ray at fucking Wal-Mart. Nobody took your goddamn racist cartoons away.

  3. I thought the domain squatting was kind of a crappy thing to do, but also so inconsequential that I don't care.

Also, Lego owns legos.com and used to have it redirect to a message chastising people for incorrectly pluralizing their brand name. They had this coming.

  4. I was supposed to be out of this apartment by now, and now the damn thing is falling apart. I've spent about sixty dollars trying and failing to fix the toilet and just today a lamp fell off of the ceiling.

  5. I used to live near an art school full of 18 year olds in the big city for the first time trying to be quirky and different and stand out because they're so fun, can't you tell, just look at their antics!

I used to attend one! They were often prima donnas, but usually nice enough once you got to know them.

that unicycle guy though... that's just unsafe with this much ice on the ground.

  6. There is a huge problem among Canadians around my age of being apathetic about voting and being content with the way things are now, because our country is superficially much more socially progressive than the US. It's awesome that gay people can get married here. Not so awesome that we treat aboriginals like garbage and have a double digit unemployment rate in virtually every province east of Quebec. This election I intend to finally start chipping in, as much as I can.

For those unfamiliar with Canadian politics: it's not all it's cracked up to be. PMs tend to either be in office for way too long or way too little. The current PM's held the position for nine years, while the sole female PM was only there for just over four months.

  7. I tracked down a copy of Beautiful Darkness. It's gorgeously illustrated, and tells you the bare minimum you need to know about the little people in a disjointed-feeling but very compelling way. It's not even made clear what they are, only that they have the naivety of children and are capable of profound casual acts of cruelty. Ending the book with the protagonist realizing that the people she had formerly treated with the same kindness and respect she afforded everyone were uncaring monsters and ultimately killing them when she realizes that they'll only contribute to her suffering is about as dark as you can get. The whole thing is kind of one part The Smurfs and ten parts Lord of the Flies. I enjoyed it a lot.

  8. I watched Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: The Motion Picture Dracula Untold. As someone who is a huge fan of the classic Universal monster lineup, I ...actually really liked it? It suffers from modern blockbuster movie bullshit (there's some shakycam fights, it doesn't even make an attempt to pass the Bechdel test, and the CGI bats everywhere look ridiculous), but it does some legitimately clever stuff with the Dracula mythos.

The fight in the room full of silver coins is clever, the giant bat fist is so ridiculous that I'm on board with it, and setting up Count Orlock as the main villain for a Universal Monsters Avengers deal is inspired.

I mean, it's not a great movie, but it's way less stupid and cynical than it has any right to be, given what it is. They made a good version of what they set out to achieve and it opens up a lot of potential re-interpretations of the rest of the pantheon.

Oh, also, the final scene makes Dracula look like the shittiest PUA, which is unintentionally hilarious.
