I bred a couple of these babies; kept the best one for myself and traded the other on the GTS for a Victini. I have now reached the point where the only Pokémon I don't have are ones that aren't tradeable through the GTS, so I'm gonna let you guys know that I'm willing to breed pretty much any perfect non-shiny or near-perfect shiny Pokémon in exchange for Mew, Manaphy, Shaymin, Arceus, or Genesect. Make me an offer. I draw the line at Vespiquen.

I also logged into the Pokémon Global Link for pretty much the first time ever as of Gen VI, because I wanted a Custap Berry and realized that the only way to get one is to play an insipid minigame on the site. Man, it's better than it was in Gen V, but the PGL is still terrible.

I'm starting to get into building weird gimmick Pokémon. I'm breeding a slow, bulky Analytic Magnezone because I realized that Analytic+Zoom Lens gives it 100% accuracy with Zap Cannon, which got buffed up to 120 base damage this gen. It also gets 105% accurate Supersonic. Next I'm gonna try a Harvest Trevenant with Curse, Sunny Day, and a Custap Berry. 5 consecutive turns of guaranteed +8 priority sounds fun.

  2. The 3DS Louvre tour is fascinating for several reasons, but I fucking love that in their electronic museum guide thing, Nintendo apparently still used the bottom screen as a map.

  3. Yeah, Gremlins 2 was a joke suggestion based on the fact that the last time we did this it just turned into Gremlins 2 talk. It's an oddly brilliant film, but it has nothing to do with feminism.

  4. I've been living alone since I was a teenager and sometimes it definitely gets to me.

Yesterday I got hit by a car IRL

Geez, dude, are you alright? I mean, that doesn't look too bad, but it does look like it hurt.

  5. Of all the weird tangents in Idle Thumbs I never thought I'd hear a thorough Doug reference. Now the theme is playing in my head.

Doug is fascinating as the logical endpoint of the nineties-era Burger King Kids Club approach to diversity in cartoons, where every cast member is distinctly different and their ethnicities are never directly addressed, but the protagonist is still very unambiguously a caucasian male.

I think that what I love about this podcast is perfectly encompassed by Danielle talking about shitty police procedurals as a segue and nobody considering that it would be a segue to HOT NEW RELEASE Battlefield Hardline.

  6. It's not that I have anything against Cortana, it's that I feel an OS should streamline itself to match its user instead of needlessly pestering them about its other features. Just tuck those features away somewhere if they're not being used.

What I'm reminded of more than anything is something I remember reading about the development of Windows 8, when they were adding the Ribbon interface to Explorer. They had been taking notes about what features a sample of users were using and how frequently, making more commonly-used actions like Copy, Paste, etc into larger buttons on the UI. But they also said that they found certain functions that 0% of users used, and instead of removing the things that literally nobody used, they decided to just make their buttons smaller.

  7. So I'm reading about the new additions to Windows 10 that were unveiled yesterday, and...

Also, Spotlight now serves as a slow-going tutorial of sorts. Belfiore demoed how Windows knows what services you’re using on the operating system, and if you’ve neglected Cortana for a couple weeks, the lockscreen will tell you all about the voice assistant and how to use it.

How about if I obviously don't need a service, you don't try to goad me into using it? Ugh.

  8. Obviously this is hyperbole, but Homestuck feels like the pyramid scheme of webcomics, where all these really talented amateur musicians/artists/programmers/etc. keep getting pulled into contributing to this one guy's master plan that will never ever pay off.

  9. Fuck, Tom Siddell knows how to hit where it hurts.

In other news, I'm not sure I have much of a full opinion on new Homestuck (or if anyone here even followed it), but it has reminded me how much more time, patience and energy I had for this stuff 4 years ago. Jeez.

I haven't read Homestuck since college, where I finally got tired of Hussie's inability to complete a fucking story. Every single time it hit a cliffhanger that implied impending closure, it would just cut to a different location and introduce a whole new cast of characters. I just glanced at it, and it looks like he's still on Act 6? Something bonkers like Act 7 of Act 6 of Act 6?

  10. I went back to Jurassic Park a couple days ago and while there are definitely parts of that movie that don't play today

Jurassic Park is weird for me, because I consider it a great film despite knowing how severely flawed it is. There are needless changes from the source material (in the book, Dr. Grant loves kids, because all kids love dinosaurs), characters constantly acting like idiots (Timmy frantically hopping around while Lex is hacking and Dr. Satler, mere feet away from him, is desperately reaching for a gun that he could just hand to her), and tremendous logical inconsistencies (the T.Rex manages to sneak up on everyone in the finale despite being so heavy that its footsteps shake the ground). It's very campy, in a way, but for whatever reason I mentally categorize it as being much more legitimate than other films with similar camp value.

  11. That said I clicked through the valve article and looked at the skyrim mods and just saw a ton of swords/weapons selling for $1.75 each which to me is sooo stupid. Its like shitty aesthetic hat DLC, which I have never been interested in.

I hope the mod community doesn't devolve into a strange rat race to make weapons they can sell for way too much. I mean I just can't imagine paying the same amount of money as I would for a song in Itunes for a single weapon/armor item.

What if that weapon is the Master Sword/a Lightsaber/a Keyblade?

Alternatively: what if you could pay $10 for clean women?
