  1. I really like endless runner style games for pick up and play. I've been playing Time Surfer and Punch Quest lately, which I got off one of the recent Humble Bundles. Rayman Jungle Run and Wind-up Knight are also pretty good; I've played both of them to completion.

Also, Nachimir mentioned A Ride into the Mountains a few pages back. Get it. It's a beautiful game. Probably my favorite mobile game I've played this year.

  2. Just started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation.

It starts off a very weird note with (the?) Q and his trial of humans and Space Jellyfish. Then I watched the next episode.. and they get drunk.. I'm sorry.. infected, everyone gets horny and Data has sexy time with Yor...

I hope it gets a tiny bit more.. serious as I continue?

It took them a couple of seasons to find a good rhythm and tone that seemed to work. They start to find their stride in season 2 (The Measure of a Man is one of the best episodes of the series) and by season 3 it starts to get really consistently good.

I've been working my way through the shows in chronological order and just got to where DS9 has just started and I'm really excited. I totally missed DS9 when I was younger and so far it seems like it's off to a good start.

  3. This is pretty good.

it isn't just about dating, neither is it just for feminist men

It's amazing how much of that can really boil back down to "act like a mature, emotionally stable adult." :-P

  4.

It makes you seem confrontational as fuck, though. Not to mention you're putting words into his mouth here, I haven't seen thestalkinghead dismiss the idea of feminism because of the tone, just the tone itself. In fact, why is that stupid argument even a thing, so far I haven't seen one person being like "uh, no, men have more rights and that's awesome, let's keep it that way!"

I've come to view this community as being a very intelligent and reasonable one, I'd be shocked if there was an even remotely significant amount of people disagreeing with the core idea of feminism here. So why are people jumping at eachothers' throats?

I'd strongly assume the whole point of tone, if brought up here, is not about whether the points made are valid, but rather if there's any sense in spreading them that way. You even bring up yourself that it's not a good method. So why would it ever be a bad thing to address this? In your owns words: "people fight against us", well, every angry part of the movement, no matter how understandably angry, is ammunition for the ones ones fighting against you to show to the uninformed outsider, is it not?

People fight. Some people fight angry. Some people fight calm and collected. Not all conflicts are equal and not all conflicts are solvable the same way every time. The audience matters as much as the presenter. Anger is a tool just like any other emotion. Sometimes you just need people to understand your frustration. And anyway, there's been plenty of examples already cited that disprove both the "angry feminist" caricature and all the other arguments you're associating with it. Or, in my typical blunt fashion, I would say you guys are just continuing to drop a load of bullshit.

Anyway, I've got another bad joke, now. An objectivist, a nihilist, and a feminist walk into a bar. They all have a drink and bitch about work because that's what people do in bars.

  5. I'm personally disappointed by the announcement. I've no interest in Steam OS as my laptop (and almost undoubtedly any future laptop I get) has HDMI out already. I don't need a dedicated HTPC when I can just plug my laptop in (and when I end up getting a dedicated console at some point or another anyway) and I don't particularly want to stream games from and to since hey, input/output lag is still lag, even over a local network. Hey Valve where's a game, ANY game? You do still make games right?

I don't think Valve has any interest in SteamOS being used as a general purpose OS. There are a lot of companies using the Linux kernel to handle the low level stuff like hardware, networking, file systems, etc. and then layering a customized userland on top to build a niche OS. Their strategy sounds closer what Google has been doing with ChromeOS: building focused experience that does a few things really well instead of building another generalized OS and competing with Microsoft / Apple.

  6. That's really the first time I heard that. Christianity makes even less sense now. So Jesus did not die for our sins, because he's God and God is immortal.

It should be noted that not all denominations of Christianity buy into the idea of the Trinity. Unitarianism is the belief that God and Jesus are two distinct beings.

  7. Might it be a case where the the placement on hard drive can't be optimized in the same way the disc can because the other preexisting contents of the drive can cause fragmentation?

This is my suspicion as well. When I read the suggestion by Justin Leego at the top of the page, my initial thought was "huh, they're trying simulate defragmenting the hard drive."

  8. I try, some days with more success than others, to hold onto the long view of things. When you consider the full course of human history, the idea of feminism is still incredibly young. I mean, even the broader category of universal civil rights is something that we still have a lot of work to do on. But I believe that my generation is more tolerant than my parents. And I still have hope that my children and their generation will be more progressive than mine.

I think the key is to get up every day and continue to educate yourself. Try your best to educate those who you know you can influence. Every drop in the bucket matters. In time, the seeds of progress are nurtured and bear fruit. It just takes time for new ideas and movements to permeate a culture. Sometimes it can take a lifetime. But we keep moving forward. That's what I try to remind myself, anyway.

  9. How about give Sully a son, you've got reason to work together because family, but he'd hate Drakes guts as his dad treats Drake more like his son, it's perfect! But they've already established sullys got no kids booooo. I though Sully came across really poorly in this game

Seems a bit cliche and/or angsty to me. I'd rather see Naughty Dog come up with something new. I always hate it when companies run their stories into the ground by trying to force new scenarios into a universe that doesn't have room for them.
