  2. I know we weren't going to discuss Gotham in here, but as the series finished a month ago and there's no point in starting a new thread: The series has always been half ace half awful, but this final season was mostly awful. They picked some boring Big Bads and went with the most boring versions of pretty much all their regular characters. A real shame, as at their height they were doing some great stuff with Riddler, Penguin, 'Joker' and even young Bruce Wayne, plus occasional villains like Prof Pyg and Hugo Strange were done well. How's the Arrowverse/Berlantiverse these days, @SecretAsianMan (and anyone else watching it)?
  3. Marvel movies

No, we have the Netflix Marvel thread, but any AoS talk is scattered through the Movies/TV Recs megathread.

  5. I live in a little hut and I code like crazy in the night dreaming of a little success. Let me talk about idlers and dungeons and make my shameless promotion. Watch The Trailer First of all, sorry for my english, it's not my language. I love grindquest, and I contacted adam rump the creator of grindquest to allow me to create an evolved version of his game. the system of idlers and dungeons is thus based on grindquest to some close variants. I am an artist and I always distribute my games for free in flash format and if you like the game , considere to buy the android version. If my sales of idlers and dungeons were to rise, I will probably implement a forge or I will do a sequel. can be under unity. Idlers And Dungeons is an idle adventure game in which you have to automatically hunt monsters to earn experience and gold. Choose one from several available classes; each has a different set of skills. The game features realistic animated dungeons. You can do various quests in each dungeon to earn rewards. Spend talent point to learn a new skill after you level up; you can always reset these skills by purchasing a talent reset from the shop. Don't forget to sell your loot and unused items to earn more gold. Once your level is high enough, you can travel to another location to hunt stronger enemies with more rewards. Good luck conquering the dungeons! Get the android game. On google play On Amazon

I somehow didn’t get into Easy when I first tried to watch it, but when I got through a couple of episodes I started liking it. Reminds me of High Maintenance.
  7. Marvel movies

With season 4 they change up how the seasons are written, with it being a couple interconnected arcs instead of stretching out one story and it actually becomes alot more focused and tighter because of it. The problem for me is with how season 5 starts and largely plays out it drops some threads that were important to the world of the show. It also goes for alot more bombast and Epicness which didn't work for me as it lost some of the character focus of season 4. There's no mad libs shit in either season though! I should add, I was into the show but not a super fan or anything, season 4 hooked me haaard though.
  8. Marvel movies

As long as it doesn't have Gotham's MadLibs approach to writing ("In THIS episode, RIDDLER teams up with POISON IVY, who falls in love with JIM GORDON"), it's probably fine television. But I have to say that I'm also thinking of seriously pruning the amount of shows I follow. Not that GoT is very nearly done, I don't know if I need more stuff to fill that hole. The shows I currently follow: - GoT - Gotham - She-ra - Dix Pour Cent - Planet Earth - Brooklyn Nine-Nine - The Good Place - Star Trek Disco - TNG Plus some anime like Sarazanmai, Ace Attorney and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I could do with a few less.

Season 4 is really really good! Though I also back up what secretasianman said
  12. Episode 468: Same Thing, Different Place

This was a really interesting episode. I particularly liked the conversation on The Operational Art of War IV. I think this would be a good one to do an episode on some time, I’ve been eyeing it for a while as a newbie to hex wargames but haven’t jumped in as it seems so massive and I haven’t seen much discussion in any of gaming reviews land anywhere.
  13. Marvel movies

As much as I actually like AoS, if you reached a satisfying conclusion then I wouldn't recommend getting back into it. Most of what follows after that has LOTS of open plot threads that have never been resolved. It's one of the things that drives me nuts because I hate loose ends. When it looked like season 5 was going to be the last one I was mainly bummed about not getting any resolution to those stories. I really hope season 6 at least attempts to close some of the gaps but I'm not hopeful it will.
  14. Marvel movies

I kinda stopped watching Agents of Shield after the 3rd (?) season, which was the big Hydra/Ward blowout. The ending there felt satisfying and had tons of closure, and I never picked it up afterwards. I'm hesitant about it too. I'm not as much IN the MCU anymore, not like, say, four years ago.
  15. Free Music Resource - Over 1800 Tracks

Greetings Earth People, This week’s new music tracks are: On my Sci-Fi 7 page: "INVASION!" – They’re heading this way! Run for your life! Aliens? Zombies? Slimy monsters? Something else entirely? On my Funny 6 page: “PARTY GHOULS” - Rockin’ it in their haunted party mansion. This track might be fun in a goofy Halloween-themed game or something like that. And two tracks on my Positive / Upbeat page: "OF SUMMERS GONE BY" – Here’s a high energy 80’s-style piece with a sweet, slightly magical feel that might sound nice in a game, video or perhaps something else. CAREFREE DAYS AT PELICAN SHORES – Carefree and creative…bouncing around town without a worry in the world. Wouldn’t that be great? All are free to use, as always, with attribution. If anyone has kids or younger siblings, I've created a fun environmental learning series that (I hope) will engage them through stories and characters. The organization I made it for uses the films all the time, and I'm sharing them with the rest of the world. Please feel free to check them out and share with friends, parents, teachers or anyone else who might find them helpful. Keep being creative and have a good weekend!
  16. Marvel movies

Yea the 5th season finale took place as the fight in new york happened, they actually show a clip of the ship coming in on a tv at some point. This puts season 6 a year post ginger snap. Anyway. I'll watch it, but a little skeptical? Season 5 was fine, there were parts I enjoyed, but season 4 was the highhhhhhhhhhh point of the show for me, there was such a focus on character in that season that I felt got a little lost when they tried to go bigger in season 5. Also Doom Patrol is kinda shitting all over any other comic book show I've seen, it's just so ridiculously good. I never root for properties, but I wish it wasn't on dc's streaming service so that more people could see it. I guess I should say I did watch the new ep of AoS, and it was fine. I wasn't super pulled into it, but we'll see how the show plays out.
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

Yessss, it was you that recommended it! The film showed in cinemas in Wroclaw, Poland, so I caught it there.
  18. Marvel movies

It's not a movie but I watched the new Agents of SHIELD last night and we don't have a separate topic for it (that I could find). I don't think its worth making one so I'll talk about it here. They do their normal thing of throwing you right into the thick of it without really explaining anything so that they can string you along over the season with bits and pieces of information. And even though that sounds negative I kind of like it because it keeps me engaged more than a straightforward story does. (Contains Endgame spoilers in case you haven't seen that)
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

Long Shot is the best romantic comedy I've seen since The Big Sick. I'm so glad you watched and enjoyed Minding the Gap. I want everyone to watch it because it's so good. I also watched Minding the Gap back in December. These kids are from a hometown 2 hours from mine in Illinois and this movie made me feel so much. here's what I wrote about it at the time:
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

That is high praise! I watched a series of good/ok stuff. Dead to Me - Pretty good series that suffers from awful plotting and the need for the show to be more than just two women coping with grief. The writers seem to think they everyone is going to be interested in a bunch of 'surprises' when it is really the interaction between Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini that is what works. The set up is a Applegate's husband is killed and she meets Cardellini at a group session and the show trundles on from there. What elevates the plot is the sharp dailogue and warmth between the two leads. The ending is bad, but I guess I will keep watching because the leads seem to be having fun. Minding the Gap - Documentary about 3 skater kids in Colorado and what skating and family mean to them. This film hit me so fucking hard, in the life thread a while back I talked about the dissolving of a friendship and one of the guys in the documentary I just immediately identified as him. Really simple story telling, well put together and equal parts deflating and reaffirming. Wine Party - This was one of those films that is generic (friends meet for special time, things get out of hand, they fight and then reconcile) but it basically works thanks to the scene-to-scene fun that most of the cast (Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolpho and Jason Schwartsman especially) inject into what should be super banal.
  21. The Big VR Thread

I now have a reliable workflow for creating really nice 3D photos for viewing on the GearVR that only cost $3 if you have a GearVR and a computer. I can make a guide if anyone wants to be able to do this.
  22. Building a Free Library of Images for Everyone

Greetings fellow creatives, I’ve posted new cartoon-style texture images here: TXR – GLASS – Cartoon Some wild textures here… TXR – METAL – Cartoon Some dirty metal textures… TXR – ROCK/STONE – Cartoon Please keep in mind that they are meant to be building blocks rather than polished textures, so feel free to edit / alter / mash / etc., as needed. Btw, if you happen to have kids (or know someone who does) I’ve created a learning series that teaches them environmental stewardship in a fun way through stories and characters. It was my first try at making films with a DSLR…(they can be very challenging to work with in the field)…but I think they came out pretty well. The organization I made them for was very happy with them and uses the films all the time…hopefully others can benefit from them as well. Please feel free to share with family, friends, teachers or anyone you know who might find them useful. Enjoy!
  23. I wrote the manual. It is free for download from the game's web page. You can also get a printed version for the cost of printing/shipping. (neither I nor Illwinter make anything from it.)
  24. Is It Happening Again...?

    Same day.
  25. Hello, I'm Fanomatic! It's been a while! In Wizard Jam 5 (2017) me and a friend (CEJ) started working on a retro point & click adventure game (then known as "person shaped thing"). I've worked on that project since then and have now completed a demo of it. It's now called "Animal Cruelty" and so far I have put together a fully playable PC windows demo of the first room. It features two playable characters, sounds, music, an NPC and many interactions. Here are some screenshots: Let the maniacal laughter commence! Meet interesting characters! If you want to try the demo you can do so here The full game will be free and will include two more playable rooms (plus an intro and an outro) as well as one more playable character. I try to keep it somewhat small and manageble. You can follow my progress on Twitter: And on Facebook: I wanted to post this here since the project was born on idlethumbs. I hope you enjoy it!
  26. Movie/TV recommendations

my husband and I went and saw Long Shot this weekend, and if you have any affection at all for romantic comedies, I couldn't not recommend it more. It does what Knocked Up failed to do: make Seth Rogan an interesting, believable, and endearing male romantic lead. I already want to watch it again. Up there with Say Anything & To All The Boys I've Loved Before as my favorites.
  27. Recently completed video games

So, I just finished Fade to Silence for review on Gamecritics, and that game had me in its grips from the get go. The game is a Third Person survival game, with an emphasis on resource management. There is base building, follower management, permadeath, and some multiplayer too. I love the frozen wasteland setting and it feels rewarding to push further into the world. The thing is, there are soooo many bugs in the game, it is completely broken in places. That said I could not put it down for the 40+ hours I spent with it, even when it attempted to ruin me. Anyway, if you can put up with the numerous and vicious bugs I strongly recommend it.
