In a
recent interview with 1up.com's plucky
news editor blogger extraordinaire Jane Pinckard, Lionhead's Peter Molyneux casually mentioned his plans to develop
three more Black & White[/i] games[/i] after
Black & White 2, bringing the grand total of the series to five. He said that the plan is to set each successive game approximately one thousand years further into the future, placing
Black & White 5 in the modern day. Though this plan was
mentioned a few years ago, the fact that Molyneux is bringing it up again might mean that he
really means it this time, guys. He also states that the team at Lionhead had originally planned to incorporate your Creature having a baby into
Black & White 2, but that this feature was cut due to time constraints. Maybe they're saving it for
BW3, 4, or
5?
One might think that after the whole
Fable "plant a tree and watch it grow" fiasco, Molyneux would avoid speculating wildly about games that aren't even in development yet. But considering the five-year gap between 2000's
Black & White and this year's upcoming
Black & White 2, the boys at Lionhead should have until about 2020 to bring Molyneux's big dreams to fruition. More power to'em, I suppose.
