It's just like Nintendogs! Except there's different animals, and you can viciously abuse them! Indeed, Lionhead's infamously flawed God game will be heading to the DS platform, courtesy of Majesco.
Peter Molyneux has no involvement in the game, which is good news to anyone hoping it will be fun in addition to high-concept. (Sorry. We still love you, Mr. Molyneux.) Majesco has drafted UK studio Full Fat to make the conversion, the same developer that is producing Advent Shadow and BloodRayne for the PSP.
Black & White is obviously a perfect fit for the platform, as the PC original featured a gesture-based interface that seems made for a stylus. Head over to
IGN for a brief preview with screenshots.
For those who are somehow unaware of the original Black & White, it allowed you to play a good or evil God, reigning over a tribe and also teaching and feeding a creature that assisted you in Earthly matters. Although the game featured very advanced creature AI, its compaign has been much criticized for being rather uninvolved.
Besides the DS game, which is to be called Black & White Creatures, mention is made of a PSP Black & White, though no screenshots of that version are yet given. Both handheld games are said to have multiple play modes alongside the standard singleplayer campaign, including "Creature Quest", "Creature Pen" and "Creature Battle", which uses the the wi-fi functionality. As to be expected there's also a set of minigmes, including a game that teaches your creature to dance.
