Katamari Damacy trailer
What on Earth is this?! It's a freaking animutation, apparently. I'm loving it.
|
What's an animutation? Whatever it is, it's groovy! And if this is actually the intro we're getting, it's worth the buy alone.
|
It's a typical style of fan created Flash movie with random things going on and Japanese music playing.
|
Very interesting. And so now it's being used as actual cinematics. Cool.
|
Not really. I was just making a comparison. Google will explain all. :fart:

I do ever so wish someone would release the Katamari Damacy soundtrack. |
I've googled it and I know now. I still think it's cool they used this kind of thing as a cinematic. It fits the game and they did it with so much sveltiness ;)

Hm, and there is a Katamari Damacy soundtrack after all! |
Is the soundtrack available for dl or purchase anywhere? Can't seem to get it off of that link.
By the way, this game has the best soundtrack ever (short of Grim Fandango). |

Should I be worried about that I've already watched the Katamari intro five times? It has this... effect on me. I get... blissful... :gaming:
|
Oww... 25 bucks for a CD. I'll probably buy it... later...
|
If this game was also made for DC, I'd buy it immediately.
It wouldn't be so difficult to do the job, considering that both the PS2 and DC are same generation machines. :mrt: |
Can someone explain what this game is about? Or how... it works?

Actually I just googled for 'animutation' anyway. I didn't actually know it was *invented* by Trapezoid. I only thought he was one of the first to do it. You learn every day :) |
Where is Katamari Damacy?
|
Well it sure as hell isn't anywhere around me, none of the game stores around me ever got any shipments, but I've been assured "more are on the way". :shifty:
|
Trapezoid invented the term "animutation" but is it actually a widespread internet term? Maybe it is and I just don't keep up with these things...

Trapezoid didn't invent that style, he just coined the term Animutation and it has caught on in some circles.
Making crazy flying singing and dancing collages is what everyone does when they first get Flash or Director, he just did a very very good, entertaining job of it. |

If Salon called you up and interviewed you would you shut up about Trapezoid? He is a decently talented guy, even if the animutations are pretty derivitive from a certain point of view.
|
I almost feel bad not likeing the intro, concidering all the people raveing about it. It annoys the hell out of me.
|
It's like The Beatles meets Monty Python or something. Awesome!

(Ooh, get me) |
How much of his music have you listened to? I'm no big fan of his animations, but he's clearly a fairly talented musician and producer, especially considering he does all the elements of the music himself.
EDIT: Argh, I totally misread your post and thought you said "It always annoyed me that he got all that recognition for his 'animutations' and his music, which actually has the advantage of not being very good." I mentally moved the "not" to the wrong place. Why? I'M AN IDIOT. |
Hehe. :) It was a poorly constructed sentence anyway - I knew as soon as I typed it but I couldn't be arsed to fix it. Go me!
His music is very good (at least Michael Land told him how much he liked it!), but while his 'animutations' aren't really bad, it does seem unfair that he got a lot of recognition (albeit fleeting) for something that was probably more of an accidental success. There, I said the same thing again for no reason. Hmm. :) |
I agree!

What? No. What?
... What? Jesus. No. |
I don't know either....just smile and nod.

Good idea!

Yeah, I've had my own brush with animutation or whatever it's called. I did that in two weeks flat -- and abandoned all of my uni work in the process. I must say though, I got more out of the two weeks from mucking around in Flash then I did out of that entire computer course. Not to mention that song is STILL stuck in my head.
I absolutely love Katamari Damacy, or as it's known around the office, "Calamari Dalmation". We had the Japanese version brought in for Game of the Week, and it was so popular that people have been begging for it to return. So, as soon as I get the English version, it's going to get an encore performance. I bought the soundtrack, too! It's hilarious to listen to while smashing into cars in Burnout 3. |
This looks like one of the most original and fun games I've seen in a long time...
Which means, of course, that Europe will never get his game.... :frusty: .... ;( :\ |
